DC on GlasgowAnother crippling blow for Gordon as John Mason MP for the SNP overturned a massive 13,000 majority and the Tories move up from 4th to 3rd place. Crewe and Nantwich anyone? Poor Labour.
A fabulous quote from the Labour candidiate - “Labour is a cause not a career” - I bet she’s feeling that more than ever right now.
Even better, the Lib Dems lost their deposit.

On a serious note this can only be a further step forward for us and continued proof that Gordon Brown is not only dropping like a lead balloon on a cold day but if his candidate can lose in a safe Labour seat, in Scotland of all places, our chances of winning the next general are ever increasing. Labour’s collapse in this area shows that the party’s traditional support is turning their backs on the party and our move into 3rd over the Liberal Democrats shows that to those defecting from Labour the Conservatives are very much a viable alternative.

By far the best quote of the night must be from David Cameron:

“I think the Prime Minister should have his holiday but then we need an election.”

Poll for when the election will be called coming soon….

This is certainly great news, though I’m not sure we should read too much into it. There are certainly many other factors in Scotland which would drive voters away from the Labour Party. At the same time, we could possibly say that the results show that we as a party are still failing to engage with working class people.
