Last day in Brussels
Filed Under Brussels, Strasbourg, Travelling... | Leave a Comment
I don’t want to leave and have, in the space of 2 weeks, decided I want to come out here for a year or 2 after the UK general election and work for an MEP. The many virtues of the Brussels/Strasbourg experience have been extolled endlessly on here over the last few weeks and I [...]

Conservative MEPs will work with Ashton
Filed Under Ashton, Brussels, Labour Party, Strasbourg | Leave a Comment
As Ashton is confirmed as new EU Commissioner the Conservative MEPs have made it clear they will work with her in her new role to deliver Britain’s interests.
Despite initial concerns raised by MEPs from a number of different countries that Baroness Ashton did not have the necessary experience she has been confirmed as the new [...]

Ashton Rouses the Feminists
Filed Under Ashton, Brussels, Labour Party | 1 Comment
Something I noticed last night is something that generally makes me rather angry within politics.

Just went to the Ashton debate and the general feeling seems to be she is fairly new and lacks the experience in some aspects but she handled the questions fairly well. At least she started to then tailed off into repetition and avoidance by the end. In her defence she had been answering questions for [...]

EU Pesticide Legislation
Filed Under Brussels, environment | Leave a Comment
This afternoon I attended a lunch hosted by Syed Kamall, Neil Parish and Robert Sturdy (MEPs) in order to discuss the upcoming Pesticides Directive and its potential impact on disease prevention in African countries.
Proposed new EU regulations of plant protection products could, by some assessments, remove up to 85% of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides within 5 [...]

Global Temperatures and Roger Helmer MEP
Filed Under Brussels, Brussels Network, Roger Helmer MEP | 7 Comments
Also at the Brussels group was the well known Conservative MEP Roger Helmer who I met at conference in the Freedom Zone. Roger spoke today in favour of Simon Williams (see below) and handed out an article which I believe has recently been published on Con Home entitled “stop worrying about global warming” as well as his [...]

Today I went to one of the Brussels Network Wednesday Meetings along with the whole Syed Kamall family (Syed, Olly, Taggart and myself) as well as a group of around 30 people belonging to the “leave me alone coalition” - libertarians, classical liberals, Conservatives and anyone else who believes in free market economics.
I found [...]
